Proven Safe in Four Different Safety Trials

Suvaxyn® PCV2 was proven safe in four U.S. safety studies involving 1,110 pigs.

Study Design

  • Four U.S. commercial farms in Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina and Texas
  • 1,110 healthy pigs, 4 weeks of age, mixed sex
    • Iowa site: 310 pigs (159 male and 151 female)
    • Illinois site: 250 pigs (11 male and 239 female)
    • North Carolina site: 250 pigs (mixed)
    • Texas site: 300 pigs (140 male and 160 female)
  • Pigs were not randomized and no control groups were used
  • Single 2 mL dose given IM with one of two vaccine serials
  • Monitoring for 30 minutes post-vaccination (pv) for immediate reactions followed by daily observation for two weeks for any delayed reactions

Results

  • None of the 1,110 pigs in this study exhibited post-vaccination reactions
  • All four investigating veterinarians reported excellent safety with Suvaxyn PCV2

Conclusion

  • Results from this study demonstrate the safety of Suvaxyn PCV2 under field conditions to be satisfactory when administered by IM injection to 4-week-old pigs
